Life in the Philippines: Taking a Little More Time

Pardon me for not updating, folks.

It seems that it's not that easy to spring back after such deep personal loss. It's not only my Mom's passing that I'm mourning. It seems that I am also feeling the impact of losing my Dad a year ago. I was then so focused on caring for my Mom that perhaps I was not able to give myself enough space to truly feel it.

Being an only child is tough. Even with the full support of my husband and children, I still have the physical sensation of having a hole with a vacuum in my chest and butterflies in my stomach every day. It's hard to learn how to function again while feeling like this but I'm sure I will be back doing what I do soon.

Thank you so much for being here.

Desi Baba: Another Blog on Working at Home and Making Money Online

This blog review is long overdue.

Before I went on hiatus, and after my review on John Chow Dot Com came out, blogger Sunny aka Desi Baba left me a comment offering a link from his PR4 site in exchange for a review of his blog. He said the review could be negative, neutral or positive, as long as it is at least 200 words long and contains the anchor texts "desi baba" or "work at home" as links back.

Of course, I first checked out his blog before committing to a review. I didn't need a second look before deciding, though. Desinotes.com, or Desi Baba - Random Ramblings of Desi Baba, is indeed worth a visit.

According to Desi, his blog is about 11 months old but he only started becoming serious about it nine months ago. Considering this, his blog's page rank is quite a feat.

The blog content has a wide variety of subjects. He covers blogging, working from home and making money from online businesses, including tips on optimizing keywords and getting a first page slot on Google search. He also has posts on academics, politics, technology and entertainment. It can be quite disconcerting - yet also fun - to see posts on "English in Early Modern Britain" and "The Next Great President of the United States" in the same blog that features a Paris Hilton fan's letter and the article, "Student Masturbation Is Not Allowed in Dorm Showers." You'll never know what he might write about next and that will keep you visiting to find out.

My only suggestion for Desi or Sunny is to try to lighten up his "serious" posts a little. They will be just as informative and educational even if a tad shorter and less academic. Perhaps he should rewrite his college papers for the internet instead of posting them as is. Many blog readers do not want to read very long posts.

That's also my cue to keep this post at a manageable length.

Do visit Desi Baba and get entertained while getting more informed on many subjects, including making money online as you work at home.

Life in the Philippines: Time Out

I have been offline this past week. My Mom passed away last May 11 and we have been attending to her wake. She was cremated last May 16.

I beg your indulgence as I slowly ease back into my normal routine. Although she has been ill and bedridden under our care for quite a while, and both she and I were prepared for this, I'm still trying to find my balance again.

Trying to Earn Global Online from the Philippines: Let's Hope This Alexa Redirect Train Gives Me A Good Ranking

Those of you who may have read my previous post know why I am feeling low these days. Still, we need to keep on doing our regular tasks and routines as much as possible.

TJantunen brought me a spot of gladness when he included me in this Alexa Redirect Train by Carl Ocab. Now there's another surprise. Carl Ocab of Make Money Online with a 13-year Old is a young lad from the Philippines! I'm sure his parents are mighty proud of him and his very successful blog which was just begun in February this year. Thanks for creating this train, Carl.

So here it goes...

Start copying on the “~Start Copying Here~” and copy all the things listed without removing the links. (Of course, the train would be no use without those links.)

Move all the sites labeled “Newcomers” to the list labeled “Oldies.”

Add 5 sites that you want to include in the train and make their link like this: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.example.com then invite them to join the train.

Life in the Philippines: The Benefits of Working at Home

The main reason why my husband and I opted to work from home is to be able to take care of our children. Last year, another angle was added to the situation when my Dad got very ill. Since I am an only child, we took care of him until he passed away in May. By then my Mom was already sick. She is now bedridden and also under our care. This is why I haven't been able to post in the past days.

I am glad that we are able to do this for our family. I am hoping that my blogging and other online money making efforts will eventually create viable income streams to further strengthen our position and make us less dependent on client-based freelance work.

Trying to Earn Global Online from the Philippines: Choo-Choo...Here Comes the Feed Link Train

The train I'm talking about began as the Feed My Feed Train created by Bob. Trinity at Female-Gamer added my Cafe Romanza blog to it, and I added this blog plus two others.

The rule is that once you are tagged, you should add to the list three blogs that you think are worth reading. Please note in your post, too, how the game began and who made it, as well as who tagged you - with all the corresponding links.

The list encourages readers not just to visit the blogs listed but also to subscribe to their feeds. The good news is that these blogs have, therefore, practically been pre-screened to be worth subscribing to. Trinity has kindly noted the gaming and tech sites.

Trying to Earn Global Online from the Philippines: John Chow Dot Com Helps Us Make Money Online

If like me, you want to learn how to make money online hands on, hie over to John Chow Dot Com.

First of all, John Chow concretely helps bloggers by offering a valuable link from his PR6 blog in exchange for a review of his site. It's not even a contest. Just make sure to follow the rules of the review and he'll link to your blog. There's even more: he'll link to you using anchor text of your choice, i.e., your most important keyword/s.

The rules are simple:

1. The post must be purely on a review of his site, not incorporated in other posts or topics.

2. Two links are required with specific anchor texts. "Make money online" must be linked to his main page while "rules of the review" must be linked to the rules page. See my example above.

3. Once the review is posted, send John an email with the url you want linked to and your choice of anchor text.

This review offer is fantastic and a great help toward boosting the page rank of any blog. Aside from this, though, John Chow Dot Com has other treasures for a blogger visitor to mine.

I, for one, intend to make use of the affiliates listed in his recommended moneymakers page. They are the affiliates he himself uses to create income streams which he reports in actual monthly figures. He does have a dot com mogul income from his blog: $11,702.66 just for April 2007! It becomes even more amazing when he discloses that his blog has been monetized only for the last nine months.

Another valuable gift John Chow offers to blogger visitors is a partnership he has with Kontera. Normally, Kontera only accepts affiliates with a minimum of 500,000 page views per month. John Chow instructs us, though, to "fill out the application and enter 'John Chow Kontera partnership' into the Comments field." His representative will then screen applicants based on blog content rather than traffic. Now isn't that worth a try?

As I said, get yourself over to John Chow Dot Com and learn how to make money online from a true master of the game!

Trying to Earn Global Online from the Philippines: A Month From Startup, We Are PR2 Here and PR5 at MyBlogLog

I was ecstatic when I saw that Manila Mom was given a PR2 after just about a month from its startup. And then I hopped over at Cafe Romanza and saw that it had a PR3! Now I know that the message from above is that I am on the right track here.

Imagine how shocked I was when Garry Conn pointed out to me that my Manila Mom page at MyBlogLog has a PR5. I didn't even realize that I could take some credit for it. I thought that PR belonged to MBL.

Garry Conn went further to write a post on how to make money with MyBlogLog.

He has also helped me assess my blogging plan and refine it with his post on how to make $100 a month in Adsense, or even more, per blog. It's the most concise and on-target advice I've read so far.

I'm on fire here, folks. Truly, angels abound in the blogosphere, kindly sharing and pointing us in the right direction. As long as we're open to new lessons and are willing to go forward, we will always be found by them :-)

On with the journey...
