Our youngest daughter, Maia or Inx, opened her first solo painting exhibit titled "Larong Bata" yesterday afternoon at Likha Diwa sa Gulod Cafe in UP Diliman.
She has 25 works on display, all acrylic on canvas, including still life, landscapes, abstracts and pop art. There are homages to her favorite painter, Van Gogh, and there is a playful take on Munch's "Scream."
To see more of her paintings, you can drop by Likha Diwa Cafe at UP Diliman, near Bgy. Krus na Ligas. The exhibit runs until September 13.
Likha Diwa is a quaint cafe serving delicious vegetarian food that can win over any carnivore. They also have very good coffee, including my favorite Durian Cappuccino. You won't regret your visit, that's for sure.
Garden of Dreams (Sold); Flowers in a Violet Vase (Sold)

congratulations to you and your daughter. she must really be talented. will try to drop by one of these days!
Thanks, Sexy Mom!
It's really a gift as no one else in the family paints. She has inspired me to start learning, though.
very impressive. those paintings are just amazing. WOW.
12 year old only??? That's unbelievable amazing art!
WOW Beautifull pictures does she rally made this?Amazing..
Thanks, everyone! Yes, she painted all of those and more, right on our dining table =)
ang galing, manang-mana sa mommy!
Thanks KC, but I don't paint...yet =)
I've been inspired by her to finally start painting - something I've always wanted to learn but never had the time to do. It's never too late to learn something new, right? And it will be good to learn from my daughter.
...opo naman. last year ay bumili ako ng cartooning books, ngayon ay medyo nakakagawa na ako ng doodles. my wife paints too, watercolor ang medium niya.
itong anak n'yo ay malayo ang mararating. wow, ibang klaseng kayamanan talaga ang mga anak. in your case, kapag naroon ang desire to paint, kaya n'yo 'yan. look for art books that with teaser 'no experience required'.
happy sketching :)
Totoo, our children are our most valuable treasures.
Hats off ako to your wife, watercolor is a difficult medium to master. I think I'll stay with acrylic first, which is more forgiving to newbies =)
I hope to see your work on your blog, too, one day. The artists you feature are really awesome! The best talaga ang Pinoy comic artists!
wonderful painting!!!

My friend from NYC saw, through photos, a few of Ingkay's paintings and he was very impressed; said the artist has loads of talent. He added that your daughter can possibly hold an exhibit in New York and wow them all.
An artist as young and as talented as Ingkay is destined to go places -- literally and figuratively.
The best of the very best luck to the 'real' Maia.
Wow. I like her creation.
I think you are really blessed to have such a nice daughter. I wish best of luck and she may have success in her life.
peace.
